MICROCHANNEL PLATES (MCP)

Microchannel plates are fabricated by way of drawing single capillaries having a soluble glass core from preforms, assembling the capillaries in a bundle and redrawing the bundle to the specified dimensions, hermetic sealing of the structure assembled from the bundles by way of its sintering in a shell under high pressure. After sintering the received unit is annealed and cut by a diamond blade into plates with the specified thickness. Soluble glass is removed from the channel. If necessary the shell may also be removed.

The plates may be circular or rectangular. The maximum diameter of the plate without the shell is 40 mm and its thickness is from 0.6 mm. We can do magnetron deposition of a metal coating to the porous plate surface. Here channel contamination will make about 0.5 of the channel diameter. Products are fabricated according to the customer’s specification.

Microchannel plates may be used for large organic molecules detection and ultradisperse biological molecules and nanoparticles filtration. Plates with the channel size ≈ 0,015 mm may be used as biosensors and DNA filters.
